It was a buyer’s bonanza Saturday morning when Highland Police auctioned off 104 two-wheelers with bids that began at a buck. Every available bike was re-homed: The highest bid was $250. Some bikes went for $1. Most of the final bids fell in between. Miscellaneous tools and car parts were also sold off. Total sales: $5,835 with all proceeds going to the Police Pension Fund. Congrats to the new owners and a big thank you to all who participated!
Dozens of residents turned over a record number of unused, unwanted, and expired medications during the latest DEA Drug Take Back event April 27. In all, Highland Police collected 477 pounds of medications that will be incinerated at a registered site instead of posing hazards to local waterways or children when they are flushed or thrown in the garbage. Did you know? Highland Police will take back unwanted medications throughout the year? Just bring them to the department at 3315 Ridge Road during regular business hours. Questions? Call Ken Balon in Support Services at (219) 838-3184.
